Seasonal comfort food meets favorite family recipes at Henning’s Local Test Kitchen, a new restaurant opening in the northern Catskills in autumn 2020.
A dream-come-true collaboration by the two of us — Norwegian chef Henning Nordanger and Julia Joern, a long-time Round Top resident — our new place marries our love of food, DIY design, and a diversity of community events.
Inspired by traditions of home cooking gleaned from our own personal stories, as well as those gathered from friends around the world, our menu and market will be sourced using beautiful and fresh ingredients and products from the bounty of the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Originally a farmhouse built in the late 1800s, our special spot (and just a short walk from our home) has been painstakingly and patiently renovated to include a dining room filled with art, a sunny nook with a view of Hearts Content Road, and a cozy parlor for coffee and cocktails. We will also host supper clubs, pop-up projects, cooking classes, and workshops created together with regional chefs, bakers, and farmers, along with craftspeople, artisans, teachers, and other talented makers.
