Catskill

An Historic Hudson River Town

Catskill, New York is perched on the shores of the Hudson River and the Catskill Creek, and extends to the base of the Catskill Mountains. It’s a waterfront community offering dockside dining, deep water port boating, and access to waterfront parks. The Village of Catskill is gaining momentum, and becoming the art and culture destination of the Catskills. We have a growing number of studios and galleries that have recently opened up, and with all of its historic culture and natural beauty Greene County is becoming a destination for wedding venues. We invite you to join our renaissance!

Art Trails

The Village participates in the Kaaterskill Clove Experience, a cultural, historical, and artistic trail, which highlights spots throughout the County (and beyond). The Thomas Cole National Historic Site is located within the Village and is the premier attraction of the Experience. The Village of Catskill is made famous for Thomas Cole, who founded America’s landscape artistic movement – The Hudson River School of Art.

The Thomas Cole House is also one end of the Hudson River Skywalk, which runs across the river to Olanna, the former home of Frederick Church, another famous painter from the Hudson River School.
